Outside Sales Rep (OSR) in the Commercial and Industrial Insulation Industry
Location: Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi
Summary:
The sales representative will work cooperatively with other members of the GLT Companies team to grow existing accounts, develop new customers and meet or exceed monthly sales quotas.
Essential Job Function:
• The sales representative will visit existing and potential customers, develop relationships and work with the customer to generate and increase sales.
• Identify and develop new customer leads that lead to sales
• Identify trends in customer satisfaction and product purchases. Stay abreast of sales figures monthly through sales reports; investigate trends and follow up with team.
• Follow up on sales leads from internet and phone call inquiries and orders
• Provide product and technical information in a timely manner.
• Keeps abreast of product applications, technical services, market conditions, competitive activities, advertising and promotional trends through the reading of pertinent literature and consulting with marketing and technical service areas. Recommend changes in products, service, and pricing by evaluating results and
competitive developments.
• Travel to customer locations to visit their plants and job sites
Requirements:
• Technically proficient with ASTM API, EN Standards, CINI, NACE
• Present a professional image at all times to customers and vendors.
• Ability to build strong relationships with customers; understanding their business needs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both written and oral methods such as email, phone calls, trade shows, etc.
• Ability to make consistently good scheduling decisions about visiting customers throughout the territory. Make efficient use of time and resources.
• Results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and contact management software.
• Sage/MAS, Act, Constant Contact, or any other ERP software is desired.
• Background in working with manufacturing/distribution companies preferably in the industrial insulation industry.
• Strong mathematical aptitude.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be willing to travel 4-5 days per week and attend customer events which may take place in the evenings and weekends.
• Good driving record.
• Live in the Region within 50 miles of a major airport.
• Good business etiquette.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to adapt and respond to changing business needs.
• Strong verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Attentive to detail.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and focus in a busy office setting.
• Regular and punctual attendance.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent
• 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position
• Manufacturing/distribution/production industry experience preferred
• Sage 100 (MAS 200) experience a plus
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organization skills & ability to multi-task
• Works well under pressure, requiring little supervision
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
• Able to adapt and respond to changing business needs
• Strong verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the internet
• Pleasant phone demeanor
• Regular and punctual attendance
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand: walk; use hand to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 lbs. This position will spend long hours in the car traveling to and from customers’ offices and job sites. Travel 4 – 5 days per week. Hours depend on area traveled but can range from 2 to 6 hours per day.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full time, exempt position and the hours of work and days are normally Monday through Friday, but may vary based on customer needs.
